Interviews by Svenska Dagbladet and SVT – Germans’ Interest in Swedish houses

Dreaming of owning a house is something many folks do. It’s great when this dream made of concrete, wood and metal comes true, and it’s even better if the house is in your favourite holiday spot.

Since I am considering buying a Swedish house myself, I have learned about the process by reading books and blogs about the topic as well as chatting to several real-estate agents, banks and experienced house buyers in Sweden.

On my blog, Hej Sweden, I have summarised the collected knowledge about buying a cottage, called sommarstuga (summer cottage) in Sweden. Turns out, people really liked it, especially Germans who love the idea of an idyllic house surrounded by nature, near a lake.

Tips for buying a house in Sweden (blog post in German), here

The buzz started when the Euro to Swedish Krona exchange rate became great for buying in Sweden. Media outlets noticed my content, and they reached out to me for my take on the whole thing.

Long story short, one of Sweden’s major newspapers Svenska Dagbladet (SvD) and Swedish state television Sveriges Television (SVT) interviewed me in 2023. Here are the interviews with links to the articles and videoclip below.
